Personal Trainers and Functional Movement Systems

I am now certified in Functional Movement Systems. The premise is, “First move well, then move often” (Gray Cook “Movement”). Our modern society has become very sedentary. As a result, our bodies have forgotten how to move. As we age, we compensate and develop dysfunctional movement patterns. This puts us at risk for injury and/or chronic joint problems. For example, low back pain, hip problems or shoulder issues. If you exercise with incorrect patterns, you are only creating more problems. Healthy movement patterns are the foundation.

The Functional Movement System is designed to identify dysfunctional movement patterns and correct them. Once healthy patterns are established, we can build on that foundation with performance and skill; i.e. building strength, speed, agility, etc.
