Fitness Trainer Tip of the Day – Keep “Fit” Simple

“If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have found the safest way to health.”

When did health and weight loss get so complicated? Hippocrates, born in 460 BC, had it right! Get proper amounts of nourishment and exercise. It really is that simple. Stop all the fad, crash diets and magic weight loss remedies. Eat right and exercise.

Notice Hippocrates says, “nourishment” not food. In modern day society, all “food” is not created equal. Processed, frozen, packaged and fast-food is not considered nourishment. Eat fresh, raw, whole foods.

Get proper amounts of exercise. Working out in the gym two hours, 7 days a week is not necessary. My fitness mentor always said, “work out smarter – not more.” My workout yesterday was only 30 minutes. Walking or hiking is a great way to start, especially if you’re unconditioned or overweight. I use weight training for fat loss, muscle strengthening and for cardio. If you’re not sure where to begin, have reached a plateau, or have been busting your butt in the gym with no results; consult your local Personal Trainer. A qualified trainer can assess your needs and goals to design an effective exercise plan.

So, keep “fit” simple!
