Within the human body, we have chemical messengers called hormones. Ghrelin is a hormone that stimulates hunger. Stress and lack of sleep stimulates ghrelin secretion thereby increasing hunger, leading to increased food intake and increased fat mass. So get some sleep!

Have trouble sleeping? Make it a priority. Engage in calming activities at night such as read or listen to quiet music. Problems with quality sleep? I suffered from insomnia for years – most of my life in fact. I tried everything from over the counter products to prescription drugs.
